| Welcome to La Perla Restaurant in Seapoint. The restaurant had its humble beginnings in the late fifties in Waterkant Street, Cape Town and relocated to Beach Road Sea Point where it has stayed for more than forty years. Architecturally daring for its era, La Perla was designed to resemble a giant fish tank suspended in mid air. A deck has been added to allow patrons to enjoy the Cape Summer and the uninterrupted views of the Atlantic and ships entering and exiting the Cape Town harbor. This is arguably the most longstanding restaurant in Cape Town reaching fifty in 2009. La perla has witnessed changes ranging from the emergence of the sea point and fresnaye area, the degradation and eventual rebirth of the cbd, the development of the world famous waterfront, the urban growth of nearby Clifton, Camps Bay, Bantry Bay and Moullie Point and not least the political transformation of south africa from a colony to a republic and eventually a fully fledged democracy. All the role players in the political process have enjoyed the hospitality of the La Perla staff. The waiters at La perla have in many instances been with us from day one. Once you have them in your confidence you can share in their encyclopedic knowledge of the social history of the City. |
La Perla has hosted a remarkable list of international sports
stars, movie stars, politicians, artists, musicians, CEO's and, most importantly,
famous Capetonians. We cater to people from all walks of life and pit a great deal of pleasure from seeing clients return after decades spent in foreign countries to find the place almost unchanged, people who cannot resist reminiscing about experiences from Cape Town's own belle epoche in the sixties and seventies. Although the restaurant is steeped in history and specializes in traditional Italian cuisine, it stays in touch with modern Cape Town mainly through its clients. Cape Town is a vibrant and extremely cosmopolitan city and La Perla captures ones attention through the kaleidoscope of personas that one might encounter there on any occasion. The emphasis is on Seafood and on speed. That does not mean that you cannot comfortably spend an entire afternoon and evening in one of our bays or deck couches. A complete infrastructural renovation was completed in 2008 to be followed by a speedily executed rejuvenation of the interiors in 2009. |
